The Building of the Temple

3:1 Solomon began building the Lord’s temple in Jerusalem ¹  on Mount Moriah, where the Lord had appeared to his father David. This was the place that David prepared at the threshing floor of Ornan ²  the Jebusite.

6:4 He said, “The Lord God of Israel is worthy of praise because he has fulfilled ³  what he promised ⁴  my father David.

8:14 As his father David had decreed, Solomon ⁵  appointed the divisions of the priests to do their assigned tasks, the Levitical orders to lead worship and help the priests with their daily tasks, ⁶  and the divisions of the gatekeepers to serve at their assigned gates. ⁷  This was what David the man of God had ordered. ⁸ 

2 Tawarikh 23:14

23:14 Jehoiada the priest sent out the officers of the units of hundreds, who were in charge of the army, and ordered them, “Bring her outside the temple to the guards. ⁹  Put the sword to anyone who follows her.” The priest gave this order because he had decided she should not be executed in the Lord’s temple. ¹⁰ 

2 Tawarikh 23:18

23:18 Jehoiada then assigned the duties of the Lord’s temple to the priests, the Levites whom David had assigned to the Lord’s temple. They were responsible for offering burnt sacrifices to the Lord with joy and music, according to ¹¹  the law of Moses and the edict of David.

27:5 He launched a military campaign ¹²  against the king of the Ammonites and defeated them. That year the Ammonites paid him 100 talents ¹³  of silver, 10,000 kors ¹⁴  of wheat, and 10,000 kors ¹⁵  of barley. The Ammonites also paid this same amount of annual tribute the next two years. ¹⁶

29:24 Then the priests slaughtered them. They offered their blood as a sin offering on the altar to make atonement for all Israel, because the king had decreed ¹⁷  that the burnt sacrifice and sin offering were for all Israel.

2 Tawarikh 29:31

29:31 Hezekiah said, “Now you have consecrated yourselves ¹⁸  to the Lord. Come and bring sacrifices and thank offerings ¹⁹  to the Lord’s temple.” So the assembly brought sacrifices and thank offerings, and whoever desired to do so ²⁰  brought burnt sacrifices.

32:12 Hezekiah is the one who eliminated ²¹  the Lord’s ²²  high places and altars and then told Judah and Jerusalem, “At one altar you must worship and offer sacrifices.”

2 Tawarikh 34:33

34:33 Josiah removed all the detestable idols from all the areas belonging to the Israelites and encouraged ²³  all who were in Israel to worship the Lord their God. Throughout the rest of his reign ²⁴  they did not turn aside from following the Lord God of their ancestors.

2 Tawarikh 36:23

36:23 It read: “This is what King Cyrus of Persia says: ‘The Lord God of the heavens has given to me all the kingdoms of the earth. He has appointed me to build for him a temple in Jerusalem ²⁵  in Judah. May the Lord your God energize you who belong to his people, so you may be able to go back there!” ²⁶

(58.9 kg), but later this was lowered to 108.3 lbs. (49.1 kg). More recent research suggests the “light” standard talent was 67.3 lbs. (30.6 kg). Using this as the standard for calculation, the weight of the silver was 6,730 lbs. (3,060 kg).
